Choosing a sunscreen you will use

Three label details to look for, and directions worth keeping.

Look for broad-spectrum coverage, SPF 30 or higher and water resistance, then follow the label for application and reapplication.

Make the label your starting point

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends those three features when choosing sunscreen. Texture and finish are personal preferences; the instructions are what tell you how to use the product.

Apply it before going outdoors and reapply as directed, including after swimming or sweating. Sunscreen also belongs alongside shade and appropriate clothing.

Try it with your actual routine

Consider how the product fits with the cream or makeup you already wear. If the layers do not sit well together, simplify optional skincare steps instead of reducing the sunscreen amount.

A serum that mentions vitamin C is not a substitute for a sunscreen. Our four Ozera formulas do not have an SPF.

Keep the decision practical

The best place to assess a finish is on your own skin, using the product as directed. You do not need your sunscreen to come from the same brand as your moisturizer.
